the benchThe program, according to Liberty Counsel president Mat Staver, is designed to encourage people to pray for those in leadership, to restore poor leaders to right thinking.
 
"It's really a prayer-in-action program based upon the words of the Apostle Paul to Timothy where he says that we ought to pray for those in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence," the attorney explains. "And that's from I Timothy, Chapter 2."
 
On the "Adopt a Liberal" list are Republicans, Democrats, Independents -- and those who are not involved in politics but make decisions that affect people's lives. Recognizable names on the list include President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Barry Lynn (Americans United for Separation of Church and State), talk-show host Alan Colmes, and lesbian radio and TV personality Rachel Maddow.

Matt StaverStaver says his group is also producing a deck of cards similar to baseball trading cards. "On the one side [of each card] will be a picture of a liberal, and on the other side some of the liberal positions or policies that negatively impact life, liberty, and family," he says. "In this way people can pray for a specific person, then trade cards with their friends."
